I’ve never been one for sitting still. This worked out because if you sat still in FL for too long you’d be covered in mosquito bites, sweat, and cultural backwater. When you force yourself to pause in NY you find yourself confronted with a whirlwind of gritty subway air, other peoples sweat, and a concentration of the most diverse people you could imagine all cohabitating in a concrete fortress. These two completely crazy places for humans to live in, one slowly sinking and the other having to build taller and taller to fit all of its inhabitants, is connected by over 1,000 miles of water. Despite all the differences and beautiful absurdities, no matter which latitude I find myself on now, when I see that water it’s like a collect call connecting me to home.
